Short Story

About Flashcast

Gilbert “vibez” Liebenberg and Tian “Pinmistro” Raath worked together briefly for an esports organisation in 2021. Tian was brought on to help cover the CS:GO team as they progressed through the ranks. Quickly, the two recognised each-others talents in their respective roles. Gilbert on the mic, and Tian behind the scenes. There was a clear role for another person, and that is where Adriaan “Lately” Lategan came into the picture, as the analyst position was open, and he had recently retired from competitive play. Combined the three decided that the Counter-Strike scene needed a centralised coverage hub, and that is how, in the early stages of 2022,  Flashcast was born.

From there we largely covered CS:GO and, later, CS2 pro-bono, until Bravado Gaming employed us to cover Project Destiny in Europe. During this time, Bravado also sponsored coverage of the South African CS2 scene. Working with top industry professionals at Bravado taught all of us tremendous amounts, and also helped us gain exposure and be noticed by Telkom VS Gaming.

All three of us now have worked the biggest stage in South African Counter-Strike, with the community and colleagues only having positive feedback, cementing us as forefront talent in South African esports.
